A neighbourhood of associations

The city places North Issaquah mostly on the valley floor, north of I-90, and describes it through its developments: Overdale Park, Rivenwood, Summerhill Village and University House among them, alongside other condo and townhome communities that each keep their own HOA. Shops are a few minutes away, on foot for some. For a range or hood repair the associations matter, because changes to the outside of a townhome block usually need their say.

Townhouse kitchens and the duct problem

With neighbours on both sides, a townhouse hood rarely gets a straight shot outdoors. Its duct turns through the floor framing toward a front or back wall, and each bend counts against it. Wolf’s ventilation guide adds every elbow, transition and cap to the run as equivalent length, says hoods work most efficiently when that total stays within 50 feet, and asks for rigid metal throughout, ideally with 15 inches of straight pipe between fittings. A hood that roars on its upper speeds while barely clearing the pans is often describing that route, not a failing motor.

The cap and the circuit

Two smaller details decide a lot here. The cap on the outside wall is part of the building’s face, so anything beyond clearing it — a different style, a new opening — goes to the association before it goes to a contractor. And Wolf wants each hood on its own grounded supply, advising against GFCI protection on indoor hoods because it can interrupt them; a hood that stops on its own after a kitchen update is worth checking against the circuit it is on. Summit Cooking Appliance Service, (425) 272-6613, looks at both alongside the range or cooktop it came out for.

5.0/ 5· 822 reviews

  • Set to 375 and a thermometer on the middle rack read closer to 320. The sensor had drifted. He swapped it, recalibrated, then ran an empty bake to prove the reading held.

    Shannon G. · Issaquah 98029 · Apr 2026

  • Water kept sitting in the reservoir and the steam cycle threw a code. The pump had seized. He explained the descaling routine I had been skipping, which was fair enough. Fine since.

    Mireille D. · Olde Town · Aug 2025

  • Flames were yellow and lifting off the caps after our propane conversion. He reset the air shutters and the low-flame screws on all six burners. Blue and steady now, and no soot on the pans.
